Insurance for Dance Instructors, Studios, and Teams

Dance has been an important part of ceremonies, rituals, celebrations, and entertainment since before the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Archaeology delivers traces of dance from prehistoric times such as the 10,000-year-old Bhimbetka rock shelters paintings in India and Egyptian tomb paintings depicting dancing figures from c. 3300 BC.

Many contemporary dance forms can be traced back to historical, traditional, ceremonial, and ethnic dances of the ancient period. Dance instruction nurtures students in the art and craft of movement, choreography, performance, rhythm, and self-expression, among other things.

While there are many physical and mental benefits to dancing, and although dance instruction and performance can be done in an incredibly safe manner, there are still risks inherent to teaching dance and operating a dance studio or school.

Even if the dance studio has taken all realistic precautions, it can still be held liable for injuries and other issues related to its events and facilities.

That’s why there are general liability insurance and accident medical insurance policies specifically geared towards dance studios and dance schools. Instructors and students alike can focus their attention on technique and aesthetics with the peace of mind that comes from participating in a properly-insured facility.

When an injury, such as a sprained ankle or broken leg, occurs, insurance coverage for your dance studio can alleviate worry and financial burden.

General Liability Insurance for Dance

Our general liability insurance policy provides coverage for claims and lawsuits that allege bodily injury or property damage.

General liability covers up to a specific amount to spectators and other non-members of your organization who file a claim or lawsuit against your dance business. Fortunately for policyholders, investigation of the claim and adjustment of any potential payout are taken care of by the insurance company.

General liability also covers property damage that may be due to negligence on the part of the named insured.

Accident Medical Insurance for Dance

Our excess accident medical policy helps pay for out-of-pocket medical costs for an injured dance student or instructor. Injuries do happen when participating in youth and adult dance classes, and an accident medical policy can keep injured students or instructors from facing a serious financial burden due to medical bills from an injury.

Covered individuals would encompass all registered members of your organization, including participants and volunteers, so long as the injury happened during a covered activity.

The policy pays medical bills for a member who is injured at your school or during activities you sponsor, if, either the member has no health insurance, or the medical bills exceed what the member’s insurance will pay.

How Much is Dance Studio Insurance?

You can expect an annual premium starting at $4.04 per student for Dance Studios. The calculation of students is based on the most active month of the year where enrollment is highest. This calculation is determined by the previous year’s enrollment activity and desired coverage.

If your dance studio has fewer than 115 enrolled students, there is a minimum premium of $475 plus fees, which equals around $520 per year.

If you are an independent dance instructor, we also offer individual insurance coverage. Contact us or complete the quote form to receive an estimate of insurance premium costs.
