Accident Medical Insurance Coverage
The Accident Medical Insurance policy is important coverage for youth and amateur sports teams, leagues, and companies.
While participating in youth and amateur sports activities, accidents and injuries will happen. With football, broken arms and torn ACLs are very common; with basketball, twisted ankles and broken noses are more common. In the event of an injury to a player, coach, volunteer, or official arising from practice or play, an accident medical policy can help pay some or all of the medical bills associated with treating the injury.
Sports groups want to ensure that, in the case of an injury to a participant, the participants can have a significant amount of their medical bills paid without causing financial hardship to the participant. This coverage gives both the group organizers and players’ parents peace of mind that there won’t be big out-of-pocket expenses for non-catastrophic injuries.
The standard accident medical policies provided by eSportsInsurance are secondary excess policies. This means that if the injured participant is covered under a standard (primary) healthcare policy, that policy will pay out first. The remaining covered charges left over after the primary healthcare policy pay out will be paid out of the excess accident medical policy, up to the policy limits and subject to the deductible. Benefits are provided for covered charges incurred up to 365 days after the date of the accident.
If a participant does not have a primary healthcare policy, this policy will act as a primary policy.
Standard accident medical benefits are $25,000, $50,000, and $100,000. Additional benefits may be available upon request. An aggregate limit may also apply.
All accident medical policies do have a deductible, as well. The deductible is the amount that the claimant must first payout of pocket before the accident medical policy will begin to pay covered charges. For instance, a policy with a $250 deductible would require that there be covered charges in excess of $250 and that the claimant pays that $250, before the accident medical policy, pays out.
Standard deductible amounts are $0, $100, $250, $500. Additional deductible amounts may be available upon request.
